Frequently Asked Questions
How close to my wedding should I book the
wedding cake?
To maintain quality, Art ‘n Icing limits the
numbers of wedding cakes it does. It is a good idea
to make initial contact with Art ‘n Icing
when you book your venue.
How do I order a wedding cake?
Contact
Art ‘n Icing to make an appointment. We will
find a time that is convenient with you (weekends are very popular) for a free, no obligation
consultation.
How do I order a wedding cake if I’m
currently overseas?
Contact
Art ‘n Icing (or have a New Zealand friend or
relative do it for you) to make an initial inquiry.
You can pick out the design you want when you return/arrive
in New Zealand or you can send Art ‘n Icing
pictures/instructions.
Are the pictures on this website the only
designs available?
No, Art ‘n Icing has hundreds of designs to
choose from and we are happy to work with any ideas
you have.
Do you supply flowers and/or sugar figurines
so people can decorate their own cake?
No, Art ‘n Icing specialise in creating beautiful,
personalised wedding cakes.
Can you make a plain cake so my florist
can put fresh flowers on it?
Fresh flowers can be problematic on wedding cakes;
they can contaminate the icing (both the flowers and
chemical sprays), they can wilt, and they are often
not an appropriate size for the cake. Art 'n Icing
can ice plain cakes suitable for fresh flowers but
can not take responsibility for items added to cakes
by other parties. All flowers shown on this website
are made of icing.
What is the most popular flavour for wedding
cakes?
The majority of wedding cakes are now chocolate.
The most popular flavour is our Moist Chocolate,
which is rich without being too heavy.
If I have a three tier cake can I have three
different flavours?
Yes, you can have each tier of cake a different
flavour.
My relative would like to make a fruit cake
for our wedding, can you decorate it for us?
Yes, we are happy to ice and decorate your fruit
cake. We do not ice soft cakes (chocolate,
banana etc) made by other people.
Is it possible to keep the top tier for our
first anniversary (or first child’s christening)?
Yes, if the top tier is a traditional fruit cake it
can last several years with suitable storage. Soft
cakes like chocolate and banana are not suitable for
long term storage.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, a deposit is required at least a month prior
to your wedding date.
